3rd Day of intercession for peace in the Holy Land
29 and January 30, 2011


The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace invites believers and people of goodwill to support the initiative of a day of prayer for peace in the Holy Land. The 24 hours of uninterrupted prayer of this third edition will begin Jan. 29 and continue until the end of January 30, 2011. This day of prayer was presented to the press (ZENIT.org) Wednesday, December 15, 2010 by Cardinal Peter Appiah Kowdo.

On this occasion, the President of the Pontifical Council stressed the importance for the Church to support peace initiatives "especially in those regions world where people suffer injustice, violence and persecution "as" the Holy Land blessed by God with wonderful events in the history of Hi, which incarnation of the Word in Jesus Christ is the first of all. "

This day "born of a desire to engage in a concrete and strong associations together, brothers and sisters of each region, and seek to make their voices heard in the world by saying : We want peace, reconciliation and unity, beginning at Jerusalem! "

The list of places and groups involved in the peace initiative and accessible to all will be published Jan. 25, 2011. Last year, the Day of Prayer was celebrated in 1103 cities worldwide.
