On December 10, 1948, the 58 Member States which then constituted the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the Declaration Universal Human Rights in Paris at the Palais de Chaillot (resolution 217 A (III)).
To commemorate its adoption, the Day of Human Rights is celebrated annually on December 10.
