Matane, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - The Wednesday, February 16, 2011, the Director of Educational Services Cégep de Matane Mr. LouisPoirier has opened new areas of the library Lucien Lelievre attended by members of the board of directors of the institution, staff, students, community representatives and members of the regional press.
"A library is primarily a source of reliable information and relevant and a pool of professional expertise in research and treatment information. But it is also a physical place that brings together a range of services and provides its users with facilities that can support the production of their work and create information "said Mr. Poirier.
The new library Lucien Lelièvre is central to teaching and learning for all programs offered by the college. It includes a documentation center, an educational space, a help center in French, an English workshop, a toy library, media production workshops, a circulation desk of audiovisual equipment and personnel working in the animation of this lively and interesting for its various users.
The Clearinghouse
In addition to its collection of books, the information center offers its users periodicals, comic books, encyclopedias and a digital collection, as well as various services such as documentary training, assistance in research, thematic exhibitions and the presentation of innovations and heart strokes. It also spaces dedicated to the consultation, meeting rooms and computers dedicated to research.

In addition to a language workshop, the library has seven workshops on media production widely used by students in art programs - Photography, 3D Animation and Computer Graphics , Integrating multimedia - but also accessible to all students attending the school. There are four editing suites, a sound studio, two rooms bench as well as three studios shooting, a shooting studio with cyclorama studio shot green screen and studio shooting frame by frame.

The library now hosts a pedagogical space comprising physical education consultants in training and educational support they provide to teachers:
- Accompany a teacher or a group of teachers, as the context in a process of reflection;
- Inform on learning resources;
- promote the exchange of teaching experience,
- Facilitate initiatives, educational innovation, adaptation to change and professional development;
- provide theoretical frameworks and practical tools;
- propose potential solutions facing a problem.
A major redevelopment
The redevelopment of the library-Lelièvre Lucien was a major issue for college in terms of time, investment and acreage affected. The renovation of the great studio shoot with cyclorama were made in 2008. The following year, the development work of the library began Lucien Lelièvre and they were conducted in two phases, which required investments of about $ 1.5 million, including $ 417,000 from the Infrastructure Program knowledge born of a Canada-Quebec and administered by the Department of Education, Recreation and Sport (MELS).
Different firms have been associated with the delivery of this project that stretched over 10% of the total area of the college. In particular, the architectural firm Gagnon, Letellier, Cyr Ricard Mathieu Rimouski and the engineering firm Dessau also located in Rimouski. Construction of Phase 1 have meanwhile been made by JC Construck Matane, while work on Phase 2 have been entrusted to Duotech Construction of Matane.
