WORD OF DIRECTOR
HEART AND HANDS FOR A NEW WORLD
On the cover of the Journal, you've probably noticed the phrase "From the heart and hands to a new world." This means that the missions of the Franciscans wish to highlight the tireless work of missionaries and brothers of the country missions to build the Kingdom of God. In everyday life, the brothers on a mission relieve human suffering, help the poor, are with the people in distress, support initiatives to improve the lives of children, women, sick and left-nots. They do out of passion for humanity because they strongly believe that the new world promised by Jesus Christ, must be built each time despite the difficulties, obstacles and discouragements.
The Franciscan missionaries to draw even the Franciscan spirituality strength to continue their work wherever they are present. Thus, Francis of Assisi, by the example of his life, said the brothers and how Christians can live the faith centered in Christ and what can be done to make man more human and world more habitable. Francis has served on brothers, but also to the laity, which may be the mission: "The brothers who go (to the Saracens) may consider their spiritual role in two ways: either not do or quarrels and disputes be submitted to any human creature for God's sake, and just confess they are Christians, or, if they see that this is the will of God, proclaim the Word of God (1 Reg 16.5). This approach to mission is an exceptional value for Christians, a great inspiration, while being humble and unassuming: it is about living a simple presence in the world. Be there be in the midst of all, witness to God, without triggering either misunderstanding or conflict, praising peace and justice of Jesus Christ. Each of us is also required to perform this presence of God wherever and whatever he does.
Franciscan Missionaries are witnesses of the presence of Jesus Christ in their country of mission not only by the practical assistance they provide to the people but also and especially by their model of life based on the Gospel. Pope Paul VI said that "the Gospel must be proclaimed by witness By ... this wordless witness these Christians stir up in the heart of those who see them live, compelling questions: Why are they doing? Why do they live this way? What or who inspires them? Why are they among us? Such testimony is already a silent proclamation very strong and effective the Good News. In fact, it's about having heart and hands to build, to follow Jesus Christ, a new world! Thank you for encouraging our missionary brothers, your loyalty and kindness touched me greatly. Remain united in prayer.

MADAGASCAR
HELP YOUTH FORMER EDUCATORS AND
Peace and Joy!
I would like to cordially thank all donors for their generosity which helped run the schools in the bush in the District of Mahaiza (Madagascar). A big thank you, dear supporters, for without your assistance and fraternal support, I would not have done it. A big thank you to all people of goodwill who were willing to support our projects in Madagascar.
I now present the different projects with your support. All first, we were able to develop much of the football field. Thanks to this development work, students can now prepare for the official examination in physical education and sport. They can also play ball and do other sports.
The second project is related to the first because we could buy the shirts and also two footballs for young footballers from St Joseph College Mahaiza. They are very happy to wear them.
The third project that we consider most important is the training of teachers and educators for college and for the entire district. For this, they conducted a study tour to Ampefy and teaching, about 320 km from Antsirabe. This is intended not only to give them adequate training and necessary for the proper functioning of their work as leaders and educators, but also and above all raise the level education students to have a good result in all district schools Mahaiza.
May God in His goodness fill you with His grace.
I would tell you that I received a new appointment at the Custody of our chapter. I am assigned to the brotherhood of the Novitiate Andraikiba I am the Guardian and Vicar of the district.
I entrust to the Lord our work with the Malagasy people and I always counts on you to support this new Franciscan mission.
Fraternally,
Fr John Baptist, OFM
EN ALAIN BOUCHARD THANK YOU
Dear benefactors
Before you fly to Madagascar on 12 October, I wanted to send you a note. After four months off medical Quebec, I am in shape to resume my function as head of the house of Antananarivo with fifteen young students in philosophy and theology, an electronics and one infirmary. In addition, I am responsible for the economy of our mission to Madagascar.
I take this opportunity to thank you for help and donations you have sent us to the poor of our neighborhood that I deal with "the Association Sunshine" and to support all projects Custody.
Thank you also for the masses that you send us. It is valuable for our 25 young priests who work for training or working in parishes in the bush. Thus, you are participating in the mission of the Church and it's your way of being missionaries in Madagascar earth. Thanks to you, young Malagasy can live the Franciscan ideal.
I am the spokesman of the poor, sick brothers and Madagascar to show you their gratitude for your kindness and your loyal support. The first Friday of the month we celebrate a Mass for your intentions.
In union of prayer and gratitude, I left Montreal in saying "goodbye and see you soon! May the Lord bless you and St. Francis.

NEWS FROM THE CUSTODY OF MADAGASCAR
Peace and Good
Some news from the Custody of Madagascar. First of all we thank God for all the blessings he has bestowed upon our body and the church throughout the year 2010. A brother made his solemn profession. Three brothers were ordained deacon and a brother received priestly ordination. Five novices made their first profession. Then eleven brothers renewed their profession. We always ask the grace of God for these young people to persevere in their journey and there are always young people who meet God's call to the Franciscan life.
In Madagascar, the time of planting for cultivation. We thank the many benefactors who help us fully exploit our land paddy and other crops. With your support we can do even better this year for the food that will feed the brothers and the poor. We hope that the climate is favorable. The rain begins and it is hoped that this continues.
Our new location in the Middle West of Madagascar is well. The brothers work hard to evangelism and many people where they work. Thank you again for your support and your prayers.
Fr Pascal Rivo, OFM, Custos of Madagascar
